Going Back Home (to Muhlenberg College Reunion Weekend)….

That’s right, this past weekend was my 5 year college reunion! It was so great to be back on Muhlenberg’s campus and while there have been some major improvements and changes (Hello gorgeous dining hall/ ski lodge!), it still felt as though I was coming home.

Ridiculously good-looking dining hall

In the last ten years, I have lived, worked, and/or studied in 2 different countries, 3 US states, and 10 different cities, and revisiting these places is almost always a lovely experience. Of these places, I would consider only three as home- Allentown, PA, Jarrettsville, MD, and Dublin, Ireland. Going back to where you once considered “home” brings you back to the person you were when you lived there. That is my favorite part! I can see how much I have changed, how much I have learned, and who I have become since that time. In the five years since college I have held numerous jobs, some awesome, some not so great; I have had my heart broken, dated around, and am now building a life with my best friend (if our visas would only allow!); I have built great lasting friendships and I have distanced myself and ended others; I have completed a Master’s Degree, lived abroad, and travelled to places I would have never dreamed of; I have been there for family, and I have also been quite selfish at times.

I started writing this post with the intention of talking about specific Muhlenberg related events and friends and professors and new buildings. But I have realized that Muhlenberg is so much more than that. It is the place that allowed me to grow and become the person I was 5 five years ago, the person I am today, and the person I am destined to be.
